it began with buying an opal ring for fifty cents at a rummage sale with my grandmother. she was a haggler and ensured i knew the value of a dollar. that opal ring still glistens in it's fiery iridescent light. my jewelry repertoire has grown since then as i went through a brief mainstream, fast-fashion jewelry buying stage against my better judgement. ignoring the lesson my grandmother had taught me at age 10.
now shamelessly i admit my jewelry wardrobe is overflowing with vintage brooches, oversized rings, and exquisite cuffs. i still buy jewelry today. i simply can't help it. i am obsessed.
i started urbane cole because i wanted bigger, bolder pieces that will leave a lasting impression for a lifetime. my grandmother didn't buy a ton of jewelry but her pieces were statement, sentimental and of high quality. i keep that in the forefront of mind when creating pieces in hopes that someone will feel just as I did before the mainstream jewelry box.
